Twin Falls Subaru Helps Find Homes for Sheltered Pets

It is that time of year again when Twin Falls Subaru organizes to help find loving homes for pets currently living in local animal shelters. During October, Subaru, Twin Falls Subaru, and over 600 other Subaru retailers nationwide participate in programs to find homes for pets in animal shelters across the country. While all pet adoptions are encouraged, the program puts a particular focus on older or disabled pets that spend the longest time in shelters.

The Subaru Love Promise

The program is part of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative, just one part of the Subaru Love Promise program. Subaru supports all these programs with the help of dealers like us. For each new Subaru purchase, Subaru will donate to charities associated with the Love Promise program the new purchaser chooses. Twin Falls Subaru is fully onboard to the point that it is a recipient of the Subaru Love Promise 2023 Community Commitment Award. While efforts for all five aspects of the Love Promise are ongoing, Subaru has dedicated October as a month to focus on Subaru Loves Pets, particularly on finding homes for shelter animals.

Matching Pets in Shelters with Homes

According to the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®), nearly 6.3 million animals enter shelters annually. The shelters do what they can but simply cannot provide the love and care an animal would find in a loving home. You will find Twin Falls Subaru partnering with local animal shelters by hosting a combination of in-person and virtual pet adoption events. A special focus of the Subaru Loves Pets initiative focuses on “Underdogs” – the senior, physically challenged, or otherwise unique dogs who often wait the longest to be adopted.

“The unconditional love of an adopted pet is something we cherish and support throughout the year, but October holds particular significance as we dedicate the entire month to uniting pets with the caring homes they rightly deserve,” said Alan Bethke, Senior Vice President of Marketing, Subaru of America, Inc. “Together with our retailers, we are committed to creating a better world for animals everywhere, and actively connecting them with our Subaru community of passionate animal advocates.”

Oct. 22: When Every Dog Has Their Day

The program culminates on October 22nd, which for the 5th year in a row, Subaru has designated as “National Make a Dog’s Day”. This celebration is dedicated to making all dogs feel loved and cared for, including shelter dogs with special needs. Pet owners are invited to share these moments on social media using the hashtag #MakeADogsDay. Subaru also encourages anyone considering adopting a pet to use a shelter as their source and to also consider an Underdog as their future pet.

As part of the program, Subaru has produced a 30-second spot titled Waiting, to support its Underdog campaign, which will run on national TV networks, including ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC, through October. Two additional 15-second spots – titled Waiting and Subaru Loves Pets – will appear across streaming and digital platforms like Peacock, Hulu, Roku, YouTube, and Twitch. The brand will also support the campaign across Subaru’s social channels and integrated marketing efforts, spanning influencer partnerships, TikTok, and custom content with The Dodo. You can find a longer-form version of Waiting, as well as six new Dog Tested. Dog Approved.™ spots on Subaru’s YouTube channel.

Over 400,000 Pets Rescued and Counting

Through the Subaru Loves Pets adoption campaign, the brand and its retailers have helped over 420,000 animals find homes since the program began in 2008, with 106,000 of those in just the past three years. For each pet adopted during the month of October, Twin Falls Subaru and other participating dealers will donate $100 to their local partner shelter to further help those pets left behind. Subaru also contributes $20 to the ASPCA for each online purchase of select items from Subaru’s impressive selection of pet-friendly accessories, including pet harnesses, seat protectors, and travel bowls.

A Badge of Support

An ongoing program of the Love Promise as a whole is the Subaru Badge of Ownership. This involves a small, tasteful chrome and black badge you can affix to your Subaru to show which parts of the Subaru Love Promise you support. The badge can be expanded with each additional program, and a dollar will go to support the program each badge represents.

So, visit Twin Falls Subaru and let your car shopping be a part of something bigger. Even if you are not ready for a new car, consider giving one of these beautiful animals a loving forever home. It is just another way that Subaru is not just another car company. Because when you drive a Subaru, you’re also driving a change for the better.
