Travis Pastrana, the wild man who started his career in the world of Motocross, winning multiple championships, and took home 16 gold medals at the X Games, another 5 at the Gravity Games, and in between all of these amazing performances on a motorbike, he started driving another career with Subaru in 2003. Since 1999, Pastrana has become a household name in the world of motorsports, whether it’s on a bike or in a car.

It is only fitting that he raced at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, one of the most celebrated automotive events in the world. Every year since 1993, Goodwood has become a place of passion for all things automotive, featuring vintage racing, and a hillclimb shootout event. During the multi-day event, it draws crowds of over 100,000 people who come from all over the world to enjoy the drivers, cars, celebrities, and the races themselves.

This year, Travis Pastrana and his trusty 1983 Subaru GL Wagon, lovingly named the “Family Huckster”, took a well-deserved first in class and second overall at the Hillclimb Shootout event. The old GL Wagon is a fully built rally car that was originally used for Gymkhana 2022 with Travis behind the wheel. It has an 862 horsepower Subaru Boxer 4-cylinder engine and incredible active aerodynamics, such as a deployable wing, pop-up air brakes, and the like.

Gymkhana is a set of motoring YouTube videos originally co-created by rally and stunt-driving icon Ken Block. Sadly, Ken passed away in a freak snowmobiling accident in January of this year at the age of 55. He was the leader of a movement and co-creator of Hoonigan, which was an auto enthusiast-themed clothing brand as well as a company that specializes in creating fun cars and video content.

When asked about the event, Mr. Pastrana had this to say: “I thought we couldn’t be more sideways than we were last year! I think I had more fun than anyone possibly could have. We couldn’t leave anything on the table — we’re here for Ken Block, in tribute to Ken. It’s just an honor to be driving that car up this hill. You couldn’t ask for more.”
