Did you know that Subaru is now a movie star? Well, we might be exaggerating, but it’s true that Subaru has made an appearance in a pretty significant film. We are talking about Travis Pastrana’s Gymkhana 2022.

The film was released two years after Gymkhana 2020 featured a Subaru WRX STI sedan. For the 2022 movie, Pastrana has put himself behind the wheel of an older Subaru in the form of 1983 Subaru GL wagon. As is clear in the film, the vehicle is clearly modified from its original factory condition. It is not capable of delivering up to 865 horsepower.

The vehicle has other custom additions as well. These include a carbon fiber body that keeps the weight low, a rally suspension and aerodynamic enhancements. As we said, compared to the factory model, it is nearly unrecognizable.

As for what you can expect to see from the vehicle in the film, don’t expect this to be a feature-length movie with an entire plot. Instead, it’s even better, because Pastrana pushes this Subaru to the limit, pulling off all sorts of cool stunts.

From running around a monster truck to racing a jet fighter, there are some amazing feats in this vehicle that, while cool to watch, we can’t recommend you attempt to pull of in your own Subaru at home.

The film takes place in Florida, exploring the areas of Fort Lauderdale, the Florida Keys and the Everglades. It is certainly one wild ride.
