Subaru of America, Inc. will be staying at the Port of Vancouver USA, thanks to the agreement reached between local commissioners and Subaru. The new deal will keep Subaru of America at the port until 2040.

Subaru has been working with the Port of Vancouver USA to offload vehicles into North America since 1993 and has leased a total of 40 acres. The new agreement was set to expire on December 31, 2030, but it now allows the automaker to lease a total of 43 acres for an additional 10 years.

“This partnership has endured through various market shifts for more than 30 years, and we’re so pleased the Port of Vancouver USA-Subaru connection is now solidified through 2040,” said Julianna Marler, port CEO. “These types of strong agreements not only create and sustain local jobs, they serve as anchors for long-term economic opportunities in our region.”

For more than 30 years, all new Subaru vehicles not produced in America have been imported to North America by way of the port. This has been vital for the local economy, creating numerous jobs. The additional acreage granted to Subaru by the Port of Vancouver USA will enable the company to establish a larger base of operations, maximizing its usability.

Once the cars reach the port and are offloaded from the ships, each model is inspected to ensure everything is perfect, and, if necessary, any accessories are installed. Once the cars meet quality standards, they are loaded onto trucks and trains for transportation to their final destinations.
