If you live anywhere in the Twin Falls area, it is likely that you will have heard of the races and rides organized by Magic Valley Trail Enhancement Committee (MaVTEC). Throughout the course of every year, MaVTEC holds numerous charity fundraising events and projects to raise awareness and generate financial resources to help it protect and maintain the trail network in the Magic Valley Area.

At Twin Falls Subaru, we are extremely proud of our ongoing sponsorship of what always proves to be an exhilarating series of summer events. As a non-profit that looks to provide the community with the opportunity to enjoy outdoor pursuits in a healthy, safe and relaxing environment, MaVTEC shares many of the values and principles that we at Subaru believe strongly in.

This year the difficulties caused by the Covid-19 pandemic have forced the alteration of the race season schedule. Despite this, Subaru Twin Falls has decided to stand by MaVTEC to help it put on events that we hope will help to bring the community together at this testing time for all.

Read on for an update on changes to the race program for this summer and fall.

Location: Dierkes Lake Park

When: Falls2Falls is still happening although the event has been put back to October 18, 2020, due to the pandemic.

Description: 5.2mi. run or walk / 10.5mi solo or relay run

Falls2Falls has a number of options for different ages and abilities.

You can walk or run 5.2 miles from the Idaho Power Park at Twin Falls through the scenic Snake River Canyon to Dierkes Lake. Buses will transport participants in the 5.2-mile race from Dierkes Lake to Idaho Power Park at Twin Falls 30 minutes before the race starts. The final bus for competitors in the walking race leaves at 8:00 a.m.

Alternatively, you can run in the 10.5-mile relay with a friend or on your own in the 10.5-mile solo race. The running events start at 8:30 a.m. so do not be late! The last bus for runners will leave at 9:00 a.m.

The kids run takes place over 1 mile at Dierkes Lake.

Cycle Magic Valley

The good news is that this year’s Cycle Magic Valley is still going ahead. However, for the first time ever, it will be virtual!

Location: Melon Valley Tour (62mi), Double Roller Tour (34mi) or Double Double Tour (both loops – 96mi)

When: Ride any time you want – just share your times with us and compare them with your rivals.

Description:

Due to government advice on social distancing, the Cycle Magic Valley race will be something you have to do on your own this year.

Participants who post the fastest times will receive a 2020 CMV medal and swag bag from Subaru containing a special social distancing CMV shirt.

150 participants will be accepted on a first-come-first-serve basis with registration closing August 16, 2020. Race fees will be charged at a discounted rate.

Unfortunately, this event has been canceled for 2020. You will have to wait for next year for a chance enjoy what is always one of the most eagerly anticipated events of the year.

• December 5 (10:00 a.m.) – Santa 5K Run/Walk starting from the new MaVTEC trailhead at the corner of Poleline and Eastland
