Get Your Subaru Ready for Spring

As of this writing in mid-April, we are actually seeing highs in the 70s. Even if they drop to the 50s, it is clear that Spring has sprung. As the outdoors transitions from forbiddable to hospitable, thoughts may turn to using your Subaru’s all-wheel drive for fun instead of survival. Camping, fishing, or just road trips may be part of the plans. Remember that winter wasn’t only hard on you; your Subaru also had to go through it. So, to help you make sure your Subaru is ready for the plans you are making, Twin Falls Subaru has service suggestions that may make your trips more enjoyable.

Has Your Battery Recovered from the Winter?

Cold temperatures are brutal on batteries, and they don’t necessarily fully recover when the temperatures rise. To ensure that your battery is ready to move on, a simple battery terminal service by our Service Center will clean your terminals and cables and test the health of your battery and the starting system as a whole.

Replace those Overworked Wipers

Few of us enjoy scraping the frost from windshields more than once. Many of us have scraped off just what we need and left the rest to the wipers and defroster. If the rough leftover ice hasn’t marred the edge of your wiper, the cold air itself may have left them brittle and thus more streak-prone when the inevitable spring showers make their regular appearance. Consider having our service department replace your front and rear blades to ensure you are all set for a rainy day.

Keeping Things Straight

It is a simple process. Cracks in the pavement fill with water, freezing weather expands the water, causing the pavement to crumble, and a pothole is born. Chances are, you hit a pothole or six this past winter, and those are one of the surest ways to throw your front or rear suspension out of alignment. It may register as a slight pull to one side. You correct for it, often subconsciously. Meanwhile, it is speeding up the wear on some of your tires. Do the hands-free test when the road is empty around you and see if your car drifts to the right or left. Or be aware if you feel a shimmy or vibrating feeling, even briefly at certain speeds. If you detect something in either case, it is time to have us properly align all four wheels. Our alignment service will include:

  • Inspect/adjust caster, camber & toe (if needed)
  • Inspect suspension & steering linkage
  • Set tire pressure
  • Road test

Don’t Keep It Real

We often strive for authenticity in our food, fashion, art, furnishings, and other parts of our lives. But when it comes to filling your crankcase, go for the synthetics. Synthetic oil generally has better extreme high-temperature and low-temperature performance and can be formulated with higher-performing additives. Its life expectancy is also up to twice that of conventional oil. If you have an oil change coming up any time soon, go ahead and get it this month, where we will fill your model with synthetic oil along with a new genuine Subaru oil filter.
