The 2025 Forester has just been revealed at the 2023 LA Auto Show. This 6th generation Forester has been redesigned with an all-new exterior and interior as well as being infused with updated technology. And yet, everything people love about the current model has been retained. The 2025 Forester will be available in Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring trim levels and can be expected to arrive at Twin Falls Subaru and other dealers in the spring of 2024.

Heading off the new exterior is a new grille that retains the signature Subaru hexagon shape but is larger and differently finished. Flanking the grille are reshaped LED headlight clusters. Even the Subaru star cluster logo on the badge has been tweaked with a look that will spread to other Subaru models. On upper trim levels, the grille will have a gloss-black finish which is matched by the side mirrors and the trim connecting the revised tail light clusters. The Sport mode features a bronze-color finish for the 19-inch wheels and other exterior trim pieces.

The fenders have moved from semi-circular to semi-octagonal for a more rugged appearance. On the back of the front fenders are functional air vents that provide an exit for air trapped in the front wheel wells. The body features similar subtle aerodynamic refinements. One thing that hasn’t changed is the Forester’s tall windows as the 2025 Forester is the same height as the current model. The current model’s 105.1-inch wheelbase is also retained while the model is about a half-inch wider and longer. Within the new body is a 10% increase in torsional rigidity thanks to a full inner frame construction with stronger welding techniques and nearly four times the application of structural adhesive. Subaru designed the Forester to retain its 5-Star Overall Rating from the NHTSA and Top Safety Pick designation from IIHS, possibly rising to TOP SAFETY PICK + due to enhanced collision prevention systems.

The interior dash design resembles that of the Outback and Crosstrek as it is now also anchored by the SUBARU STARLINK® Multimedia system 11.6-inch portrait configured touchscreen on all but the base model. With the large screen comes the convenience of wireless Apple CarPlay® and wireless Android Auto™. The TomTom® navigation system features the innovative what3words integration that can identify a location down to 10 square feet, which is identified by three random words. It is a superior location-finding method, particularly for rural addresses or perhaps locating someone in a stadium parking lot.

The seats feature increased support for improved overall comfort and reduced fatigue, after long drives. The seat shape has also been redesigned with narrower shoulder areas for improved visibility and access to the rear seats. There is increased sound dampening throughout including a 39% reduction in noise from the roof panel. Always attuned to their customers, the headliner is dark to better camouflage scuff marks from loading cargo. Speaking of cargo loading, a kick sensor-activated Hands-Free Power tailgate is now available.

Unchanged is the 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated boxer-4 engine which now delivers 180 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque. It is mated to a Lineartronic Continuously Variable Transmission and of course, has standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. All but the base model have paddle shifters with eight preset ratios allowing you to control engine speed, which is particularly useful in mountain driving. The AWD system has been revised for quicker response and now includes standard Active Torque Vectoring and an SI-Drive performance management system for more agile handling, and better control both on- and off-road. The Premium trim level features driver-selectable X-MODE with Hill Descent Control, which maximizes wheel control on slippery surfaces and steep inclines. Sport, Limited, and Touring models have the dual-function X-MODE presently found in the Wilderness models for increased capability in a wider range of adverse conditions. Start Assist is a new standard feature that briefly holds the vehicle while the driver pulls away from a stop on a hill.

The 2025 Forester has the latest version of the award-winning EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology. In addition to smoother and quicker operation, updated software and a wider field of view from the camera and sensors enable the system to more quickly identify cyclists and pedestrians at intersections. When such is detected, the system will alert the driver and possibly apply braking to avoid collisions. Emergency Stop Assist is a new feature that detects if the driver becomes unresponsive to warnings while using Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control upon which it will stop the vehicle, activate the hazard lights, and unlock the doors.

The new 2025 Forester simply enhances what everyone appreciates about the current model.
